Sarika’s Thread of Hope
Sarika, a 68-year-old woman from Philippines has spent her life trying to create opportunities for those around her. Years ago, she started a small sewing workshop to support local women and widowed mothers.
With limited resources, they sewed bags and sold them at the market, but the income was never enough to truly sustain their families.
“There were days when we wondered if this was all we could manage,” Sarika recalls.
“But we didn’t have another option, so we kept going.”
Despite the challenges, Sarika’s workshop became a place of hope. When she heard about Time of Goodness, she reached out, sharing her vision of expanding the workshop to include weaving looms. These looms, she explained, would allow them to produce more diverse products and involve even more women in meaningful work.
A Fresh Start
After visiting Sarika’s workshop and seeing their dedication, Time of Goodness stepped in to help. With the addition of new weaving looms, the workshop transformed. Today, it provides work for 125 women, each with their own story.
One of them, Nora, reflects on how this place has changed her life:
“Thanks to this workshop, I was able to send all my children to school. They’ve grown up to become teachers. I still come here every day, and sometimes I cry tears of joy when I think of what we’ve accomplished.”
For Sarika, the workshop is more than just a workplace, it’s a community where women find strength and families find stability. Her journey shows that even small beginnings can lead to something extraordinary when people come together with purpose.
